As we aim to provide a pleasant environment for everyone, we ask that when you visit the practice you are mindful of other patients' comfort and don't wear any perfumes or fragrances that may irritate certain skin conditions. We thank you in advance for your consideration and cooperation.

Q. How long will I need to wait to get an appointment?
A. The waiting time to see a doctor or Dermatologist for a standard consultation at Gabba Dermatology varies from doctor to doctor. It is our aim to provide all our patients with an appointment as soon as possible. However, the first doctor available may not be the doctor you have been referred to. Please note that for more urgent concerns your GP is encouraged to call Gabba Dermatology on 07 3039 1300 and our staff will accommodate where possible.

Q. What are your usual waiting times?
A. Our doctors take the time to address all patient concerns, and this may result in unexpected waiting times. Our administrative team will attempt to keep you informed if our doctors are running late but please contact the clinic prior to leaving home if you are concerned.

Q. What if I need to cancel/reschedule my appointment?
A. If you need to cancel your appointment, we require 24 hours' notice. If the required notice isn't provided you may be charged a cancellation fee up to and including the full amount of the consultation. If you need to reschedule your appointment, this will be arranged for the next available appointment.
Q. Is there a waiting list for surgery?
A. Most of the Gabba Dermatology doctors perform surgery at a number of local hospitals and day surgery facilities. Waiting times for surgery varies from doctor to doctor but in most cases, surgery can be booked within a few weeks. Special arrangements can be made for surgery that is regarded as being “urgent”. Our staff will discuss all options available to you.
Q. Do I need a referral?
A. Yes. A valid referral is required for patients to enable them to claim back their Medicare Rebate for the services provided. A referral from a General Practitioner is valid for 12 months. A referral from a Specialist is valid for 3 months only. Cosmetic Medicine does not require a referral.
Q. What is the payment policy at Gabba Dermatology?
A. Payment of fees for consultations and treatment provided at the time of the consultation, is payable on the day the service is provided. Please note, if paying by credit card, merchant fees will apply for Visa, MasterCard and Amex.
Q. Do you have a patient car park?
A. Yes, Gabba Dermatology has subsidised parking available.
Subsidised parking for Gabba Dermatology patients is available on Level 1, 250 Ipswich Road in the PA Parking building. Entry to the car park is via Wolseley St. PA Parking has 900 undercover car parks available with Gabba Dermatology allocated parking on the first level. If allocated parking is full continue to other carpark levels and use the next available park (please note these could be on level 6 or 7).
To take advantage of Gabba Dermatology subsidised parking you must get a ticket before entering the car park. You will then need to ask our reception staff at the time of your appointment to validate your ticket. Before exiting the car park you will need to go to the Level 2 pay-station to pay the subsidised amount before leaving.
Q. Is my treatment covered by Medicare?
A. If you are a Medicare cardholder you can claim a Medicare benefit to cover part of the cost of your consultations and treatment provided at Gabba Dermatology. Our staff can provide you with information on how much you are able to claim at the time of your visit.
Q. Will you be able to process my claim through Medicare?
A. Yes. On the day of your appointment, you are required to pay your account in full and if requested our receptionists can send your claim to Medicare using the Medicare Online claiming system. If you have previously provided Medicare with your bank account details, the rebate will be deposited into your nominated account within 2-3 working days. If Medicare does not have your bank account details, a letter will be sent to your postal address within 5-10 working days advising you to do so.
Q. Is my treatment covered by Private Health Insurance?
A. If you have private health insurance, it may cover part of the medical fees you incur for treatment provided as an in-patient, in a hospital or a day surgery. It may also cover part of the costs incurred for specific private medications, dressings, private treatments. Your private health insurance does not cover the cost of consultations or treatment provided as an out-patient at Gabba Dermatology.

Q. How Accessible is your clinic?
A. Our clinic is certified by an occupational therapist to cater for all patients. We have disabled and ambulant washroom facilities and wide access consultation and procedure rooms. If you are unable to attend the clinic in person, we also conduct telehealth consultations.
